OneFuture Coachella Valley’s ‘The Future Is Ours’ Awards Celebration and Fundraiser

Palm Desert, Calif. – (March 11, 2021) OneFuture Coachella Valley (OFCV) invites you to their 4th annual ‘The Future Is Ours’ awards celebration and fundraiser on Thursday, March 18 presented by Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. This virtual event invites scholarship awardees, friends, family, community members and OneFuture staff to celebrate the leaders from our community as they accept awards for their outstanding commitment to the students in the Coachella Valley.

‘The Future Is Ours’ celebrates these leaders for their commitment to local students and their future success. This year’s awards and recipients are:

  • The Terry & Jacke Green Visionary Award – Dr. Sandra Lyon, Superintendent of Schools, Palm Springs Unified School District
  • Engaging Partner Award – Kate Anderson, Director of Public Affairs, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians
  • Inspiring Leadership Award – Dr. Anne Kalisek, Executive Director of Student Support Services, Palm Springs Unified School District
  • Empowering Students Awardees – Joseph Martin, Film and Broadcasting Teacher, Palm Desert High School; Monica Perez, Digital Design and Production Academy Coordinator, Coachella Valley High School; and Jodie Capper, Health Academy Teacher, Coachella Valley High School
  • The Future is Ours Awardees – Vanessa Moreno, OFCV Alumni, Coachella Program Coordinator at COFEM; and Agustin Arreola, OFCV Alumni, Implementation Manager, Lift to Rise

This year’s student speakers are Lupita Valencia who is a student at UCLA who will be graduating this spring with a Neuroscience degree and plans to continue with graduate school, and Jose Chicas who graduated in December from California State Polytechnic University -Pomona with a degree in Animal Sciences. Jose is now employed at a local Veterinarian Office in the Coachella Valley. Hear both Lupita and Jose’s journey and experience with OneFuture Coachella Valley.
