OneFuture Coachella Valley works to help all students graduate prepared for college, career, and life — expanding and enhancing the local workforce so that our youth and economy thrive.
While our name is new, our work is long-established. This effort launched in 2005 as a career pathways initiative under the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, and expanded to include a regional college access and scholarship initiative in 2009. Our partnership team now administers the selection and awarding of more than $1.4 million per year in scholarships and has been instrumental in creating a regional leadership focus on college and career success across all levels of education, business, and community.
Today, OneFuture Coachella Valley, an Alignment USA community, is advancing the Regional Plan to provide students with meaningful career explorations, work experience, and scholarships, as well as other supports for college success.
Key to this approach is involvement from our region's employers, which ensures that student preparation is aligned with local workforce needs.
In 2012, seventy-five regional stakeholders came together with support from the Ford Next Generation Learning network to write and adopt the Coachella Valley Regional Plan for College and Career Success — a five-year framework outlining how business and education will collaborate to achieve the following goals:
Increase high school graduation rates
Increase college readiness
Increase college and higher skills training completion
Increase career readiness
Increase number of local students with higher wage jobs
Business and community partners can ignite student success through the following initiatives.
